IT staff are in the process of upgrading Wi-Fi access points in our academic, administrative and athletic buildings on the Seguin campus over the next couple of weeks. This is phase 3 of a 4 year project tied to the strategic plan (goal 2.a). Phase 1 and 2 focused on the residence halls and apartments and were completed last summer. When your building is upgraded, you will see that your wireless device will ask you which network to connect to since there is a name change (see below). The security/encryption protocols for the Faculty & Staff remain the same as before. The upgraded infrastructure will allow us to support newer devices, better capacity and coverage. In addition, the guest wireless network will change. It is now a self-service registration process much like in many hotels and does not require advance setup from the Help Desk as before. Access is granted for 24 hours but can be renewed as needed. I have attached the instructions for your review.
If you have questions or problems connecting let the help desk know at ishelp@tlu.edu and someone will follow up. Please note that if you still see the “old” Wi-fi networks on your computer then that just means IT staff have not upgraded the building you are in yet.
