Description

This course builds on the health assessment knowledge and skills developed in Age Span Assessment I and places those skills in the context of caring for complex populations. Focus is on nursing care related to the patient experiencing health alterations with multi-system involvement and emphasizes the synthesis of evidence-based management. Previously acquired skills in client interviewing, biopsychosocial, and cultural assessment will be enhanced by incorporating disease-specific laboratory and diagnostic findings that facilitate collaboration with the health care team. Laboratory experiences will be designed to assist in developing a systems approach to patient care that assimilates knowledge of health alterations with associated physical and diagnostic assessment criteria that contribute to clinical decision-making. Prerequisite: NURS 551, NURS 531.
