A historical survey of American literature focused on the intersectionality of race, class and gendered experiences. Readings may focus on the works of African-American, Asian-American, Mexican-American or Native American writers; gendered experiences within and between ethnic groups; portrayal and examination of the American Dream; and the role of socioeconomic mobility in pursuit of that dream.
